False Alarms

False Alarms

False alarm activation will happen sooner or later with all home alarm systems and there are a variety of reasons. Some examples:

  • Faulty sensor on window or door. Over time sensors become rusty.
  • Damaged alarm wire.
  • Something in the environment triggering the alarm
  • Faulty tamper switch somewhere in system, this may cause the system to think a lid is being taken off one of the components.
  • Faulty external alarm bell

A common mistake is to assume the alarm control panel is at fault when usually the problem is a small one and lies somewhere else in the system. When you input the user code you should be given a message on the display which varies according to the make and model of alarm system you have.

A callout and full service from Gard will involve replacing or repairing the wire or component which is at fault and checking the entire system to ensure it is working properly.

Please have the make and model and if possible make note of the error message on the display before filling in the contact form.
